How to choose a leather watch case
Watch case, watch box or watch roll?
A watch case or watch box has a rigid shell, a lid and padded slots. It protects watches at home and keeps them on display. Our Petra and Maya cases hold up to eight watches, and the Artos collector case closes like a briefcase.
A watch roll is soft, padded and rolls up to fit in a bag. Choose a Galata watch roll for one, two, three or four watches when you travel.
For a growing collection, a watch trunk stores more pieces in one place, and a watch winder keeps automatic watches running between wears. A leather valet tray holds the watch, wallet and keys you use every day.
How many slots do you need?
Count the watches you own now, then add two to four spare slots. Collections grow, and a case with empty slots costs less than buying a second case later.
Which leather suits you?
- Togo: a soft, pebbled grain that hides light marks from daily handling.
- Saffiano: a fine crosshatch texture with a firm, structured feel.
- Parchment Patina: a layered colour finish, so no two pieces look exactly alike.
- Montana: available across selected watch rolls and Artos cases.
Watch case questions
What is the best way to store my watches?
Give each watch its own padded slot so cases and crystals never touch. Keep the case closed, out of direct sunlight and away from humidity and magnets such as speakers. Use a hard case at home and a padded watch roll for travel. If you rotate automatic watches, a winder keeps them running so you do not need to reset the time and date.
What is the best brand for a watch box?
The best watch box is the one built for your collection. Check five things: a leather exterior that wears well, a soft lining, removable padded cushions that fit your strap sizes, a secure closure, and enough slots to grow. Barhion watch cases are handmade from Togo, Saffiano, Montana and Parchment Patina leather in sizes for one to eight watches.
Do I need a watch winder?
Only for automatic watches you want ready to wear. A winder turns the watch so the movement stays wound. Quartz and manual-wind watches do not need one.
Can I see a watch case before I buy?
Visit Barhion on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne's CBD or at DFO Moorabbin. See our store locations and opening hours.
